JAC T9 Electric Pickup Truck Previewed in Malaysia – Jan 2025 Debut for Below RM200k
October 21, 2024 Andrew Cheng

JAC just made its debut in Malaysia, and one of the first models previewed by the Chinese carmaker is the JAC T9 pickup truck. Offered with both electric and diesel powertrains, the model is set to be introduced in Malaysia sometime in January 2025 next year.

First, prices. The EV version of the JAC T9 is said to retail below the RM200,000 price point in Malaysia, while the diesel model will be priced quite a bit cheaper under RM120,000. Do note that these are introductory prices for bookings made by 31 December 2024, which are limited to the first 100 and 300 units for the EV and diesel versions respectively.

There aren’t a lot of electric pickup trucks in Malaysia, which makes the EV model of the T9 quite interesting. Powering the truck is a dual-motor setup (160kW rear, 70kW front) that delivers 516Nm of peak torque with a top speed of 140kmph. It also offers up to 340km of WLTP-rated range with support for 88kW DC and 11kW AC charging.

As for the diesel T9, it features a 2.0L turbodiesel engine that outputs 125kW and 410Nm of torque; drive is sent to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission. Beyond that, both the EV and diesel variants of the T9 are equipped with level 2 ADAS, along with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The JAC T9 pickup truck is now available for booking in Malaysia. To recap, the first 100 customers to book the EV model can get it for below RM200,000, while the first 300 bookings of the diesel version will enjoy the sub-RM120,000 promotional price. As mentioned, these are introductory prices that are valid until 31 December 2024.
