Apple CarPlay Finally Arrives on Proton X70, But Not Android Auto (Yet)
October 16, 2024 Andrew Cheng

Proton is making good on its promise to offer wireless Apple CarPlay on the latest 2025 Proton X70 through an over-the-air (OTA) update. Owners of the C-segment SUV can now update to the latest version of Atlas OS with Apple CarPlay functionality.

It’s a fairly straightforward process to update the X70’s infotainment system to gain access to Apple CarPlay. All you need to do is check for the latest update, download said update, and install it. Do note that the engine has to be running throughout the download and installation process.

Once you’ve done that, you just need to pair an iPhone to the infotainment system either with a wire or Bluetooth connection to enable Apple CarPlay. Yes, the new X70 supports wireless CarPlay; neat, isn’t it? Oh, beyond the addition of Apple CarPlay functionality, the OTA update also includes performance improvements and various bug fixes.

As for Android Auto, there’s no word yet on exactly when the feature will be added to the 2025 Proton X70. That being said, we’re optimistic it will be available on the C-segment SUV in due time. After all, Proton did mention on numerous occasions that the latest X70 will support both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
