Proton e.MAS 7 Does 0-100kmph in 6.9 Seconds – Same Powertrain as Geely Galaxy E5

Proton is revealing some key specifications of the Proton e.MAS 7 leading up to the launch of the EV sometime in December 2024. The national carmaker posted the 0-100kmph time of the e.MAS 7 on its social media pages, and clocking in at 6.9 seconds, it’s quite a fast SUV.

This pretty much confirms that the e.MAS 7 will feature the same powertrain as its donor model, the Geely Galaxy E5. To recap, the E5 features a front-mounted electric motor that can do 218PS (160 kW) and 320Nm of torque with the same 0-100kmph time of 6.9 seconds.

Although the e.MAS 7 is likely sharing the same powertrain as the Galaxy E5, it is not a simple “rebadge” exercise. Proton has mentioned on multiple occasions that the C-segment electric SUV is co-developed by both Proton and Geely. Between the two companies, over 700,000 manhours and 10 million kilometre of testing have been done for the e.MAS 7 to date.

On top of that, the e.MAS 7 will have some local adaptations as well. According to Proton, local road tests of the EV include Durability Adaptive Testing (DAT), Electrical Road Testing (ERT), Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) road test, and Quality Reliability Test (QRT). Enhancements to the navigation systems, Digital Head Unit (DHU), as well as Telematic Service Provider (TSP) services are in the cards too.

As Proton have previously announced, the Proton e.MAS 7 will make its debut sometime in December 2024. Ahead of the EV’s launch, the e.MAS 7 is currently on a tour around Malaysia; the electric SUV will be heading to Perak, Penang, Kedah, and Perlis this Friday on 11 October.
