Sime Darby Motors, the official distributor of BYD cars in Malaysia, just shared that it has sold over 10,000 BYD cars on our shores. To celebrate the milestone, the company organised a convoy drive for BYD owners to Malacca, which involved over 60 BYD cars.
According to BYD Malaysia, it plans to hit the next 10,000 cars milestone in a shorter timeframe. Currently, there are over 26 BYD showrooms nationwide managed by 19 dealer partners, and the carmaker aims to expand to a total of 30 showrooms by the end of the year to expand its presence in Malaysia.

“The milestone reflected the growing adoption of electric vehicles in the region and Sime Darby’s strong position as a leader in EV. Our commitment to providing the best experience and services through this strategic partnership with BYD has contributed to this success,” said the Managing Director of Southeast Asia at Sime Darby Motors, Jeffrey Gan.
Also chiming in is the Managing Director of BYD Malaysia, Eagle Zhao. “This milestone reflects the trust and support of our customers who embrace the future of mobility with BYD. It’s been an incredible journey with Sime Darby Motors and we look forward to elevating sustainable driving experiences in Malaysia.”
