Peugeot e-408 Official – 213PS/345Nm, 120kW DC Charging, 453km WLTP Range

Peugeot just unveiled the electric version of the Peugeot 408. Aptly dubbed Peugeot e-408, the EV looks similar to its petrol and PHEV counterpart, though there are several exterior updates to improve the aerodynamics of the car.

More specifically, the bumpers, front air intakes, underbody screen, and lower rear guards of the front wheels have been revised. The e-408 also got a specific underbody for an aerodynamic flat floor, and these changes are said to result in a quoted power consumption of 15.2kWh/100km.

In terms of performance, the e-408 features a front-mounted single electric motor that outputs 157kW (213PS) and 345Nm of torque. Stellantis made it a point to mention that the motor is produced in Trémery, France, by the Stellantis-Nidec joint venture.

As for range, the e-408’s 58.2kWh (usable) battery capacity can return a range of up to 453km on the stringent WLTP cycle. The EV can also pull up to 120kW of power when connected to a DC charger, allowing it to be charged from 20% to 80% in just over 30 minutes. AC charging, on the other hand, is rated at 11kW.

At the moment, it remains to be seen if the Peugeot e-408 will be brought in by Stellantis Malaysia. But given that the company has big plans for our market – not to mention the current tax exemptions on imported CBU EVs in Malaysia until December 2025 – we’re optimistic of the possibility.
