Sony has unveiled two new wireless earbuds (and a portable speaker) under its LinkBuds brand. These include the LinkBuds Fit and LinkBuds Open wireless earbuds – which will be available for pre-order in Malaysia on 1 November next month – as well as the LinkBuds Speaker.
Let’s start with the LinkBuds Fit and LinkBuds Open, both of which are priced at RM999 in Malaysia. As their names suggest, the LinkBuds Fit features an in-ear design, while the LinkBuds Open is a pair of open-ear wireless earbuds with what Sony calls “ring driver.”
The ring driver of the LinkBuds Open is an 11mm driver that promises “well-balanced, high-quality audio with clear mid-to high-ranges,” as Sony puts it. It also has Air Fitting Supporters for all-day comfort, an IPX4 rating, and up to eight hours of use on a single charge.
As for the LinkBuds Fit, its in-ear design allows for better isolation over the Open. Aside from that, it has Fitting Supporters too for a secure…fit (apologies for the pun). Other specifications of the Fit include an 8.4mm driver, IPX4 rating, and up to eight hours of playback with noise cancellation disabled; it goes down to four hours if noise cancellation is enabled.
Last but not least is the LinkBuds Speaker. While the Malaysian pricing of the portable Bluetooth speaker has not been revealed yet, it’s quite an intriguing product. It features over 25 hours of battery life, IPX4 water resistance, and an “X-Balanced Speaker Unit” with a tweeter and passive radiators.
To recap, the LinkBuds Fit and LinkBuds Open will be available for pre-order in Malaysia from 1 November next month for RM999. The LinkBuds Speaker, on the other hand, will only be sold here sometime in January 2025 next year.
