There’s a new Nothing product in town, and it’s a pair of open wearable stereo (OWS) earbuds. The Nothing Ear Open, still sporting the company’s signature transparent design, also offers “superior sound quality with comfort and situational awareness,” as the company puts it.
Here in Malaysia, the Ear Open will be first available for purchase on Crossover’s online store for RM659 on 28 September this Saturday. Pre-orders of the earbuds, on the other hand, will open on 1 and 5 October through Shopee and Lazada respectively, with wider availability set for 14 October.
The OWS design of the Ear Open offers a number of advantages, including improved comfort and better situation awareness. According to Nothing, the earbuds have a three-point balance system with silicone ear hooks for a secure fit. Tipping the scales at only 8.1g, these are lightweight earbuds too.
When it comes to sound quality, the Ear Open is equipped with 14.2mm dynamic driver, promising reduced distortion, enhanced low frequencies, and crisp highs. As for battery life, Nothing quotes up to eight hours of playback on a single charge; up to 30 hours when the Ear Open is paired with the charging case that is 19mm thin.
