PlayStation announced a slew of new games (and release dates) at this morning’s State of Play event. From Sucker Punch’s new Ghost of Yotei to a new DLC for the lovable Astro Bot game, there are plenty of announcements to cover. Without further ado, let’s get to it.
Ghost of Yotei Arrives 2025
This is probably the highlight of the State of Play event. Sucker Punch is back with a new game after Ghost of Tsushima with…well, Ghost of Yotei. This is the studio’s first-ever game built from the ground up for the PS5, and it’s set in new location with a new story revolving the protagonist, Atsu.
Ghost of Yotei takes place in 1603, more than 300 years after the events of Ghost of Tsushima. While the core gameplay of Tsushima will be maintained in Yotei, new mechanics, weapons, and gameplay improvements will be introduced in the game. For now, we’re only getting a 2025 release window for Ghost of Yotei.
Astro Bot Gets New Speedrun Levels & Special Bots
It hasn’t even been a month since the release of Astro Bot, and it is already getting new content. Sometime in fall later this year, five new speedrun levels will be added to the game free of charge. There will be leaderboards as well so you can compete against other players.
With the addition of the extra levels, 10 new Special Bots can be rescued too. These Special Bots can be obtained by beating birds that will be racing against the titular character, Astro. Among the 10 new bots are the Helldivers squad and Eve from Stellar Blade.
Horizon Zero Dawn Is Another Remastered Game
It looks like PlayStation is remastering one game after another. This time around, it is Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered. Set to be released as early as 31 October next month on PS5 and PC, it has over 10 hours of re-recorded conversation, mocap, and graphical improvements.
Horizon Gets the Lego Treatment
Perhaps more exciting than the remaster of the first Horizon game is Lego Horizon Adventures. Releasing on 14 November later this year, the Lego game looks to be based on Aloy’s entire adventure so far, including the events of Zero Dawn and Forbidden West.
Lego Horizon Adventures will be available on PS5, PC, as well as Nintendo Switch come 14 November 2024.
Monster Hunter Wilds Releasing 28 February 2025
Last but not least is Monster Hunter Wilds, which just got a release date. Launching on 28 February 2025 next year, the new trailer also shows off the flagship monster of the game, Arkveld. It is said to be a monster from a long extinct species with unique chain-like wings.
