Leapmotor, a Chinese brand under Stellantis, will be making its debut in Malaysia very soon with the Leapmotor C10 EV. Positioned as a D-segment model, it’s a large electric SUV with a rather premium appeal, and we got to see the new EV for ourselves at a media preview.
However, details are light on the exact model of the C10 that will be available in Malaysia, though it should be similar to the global specifications of the EV. If that is the case, it should feature a rear-mounted electric motor that produces 160kW (218PS) and 320Nm of torque.
What is more certain is the exact size of the C10. Measuring 4,739mm long, 1,900mm wide, and 1,680 mm tall with a wheelbase of 2,825mm, it’s roughly the size of the Proton X90. However, the C10 is a five-seater SUV, while the X90 is either a seven- or six-seater vehicle.
In terms of range, the C10 is said to offer up to 420km of WLTP range on a single charge, and it can be recharged from 30% to 80% battery in 30 minutes. However, the charging rates of the EV have not been revealed yet for the Malaysian market, and it remains to be seen how many variants will be offered locally.
Nonetheless, the Leapmotor C10 is expected to be launched in Malaysia as early as October next month, which is in line with the earlier Q4 2024 estimate. With that in mind, we expect bookings of the C10 to be opened pretty soon too.
