Quite a number of Apple products announced at the Cupertino company’s annual September event are more affordable than ever, and that includes the new AirPods 4. Not only are the wireless earbuds cheaper now from RM599 – that’s a whopping RM280 less than the AirPods 3 – it also comes with a slew of improvements.
One such improvement is active noise cancellation (ANC), which is a curious addition given that the AirPods 4 uses an open-ear design. Nonetheless, if you want the ANC feature, it will set you back RM829. That’s right, Apple is selling two different versions of the AirPods 4.
Aside from ANC, the AirPods 4 also promises improved audio quality thanks to an “entirely new acoustic architecture, low-distortion driver, and high dynamic range amplifier,” as Apple puts it. The wireless earbuds are powered by Apple’s H2 chip now too, which adds Voice Isolation for clearer call quality, as well as Siri Interactions where users can simply nod yes or shake their heads no to respond to Siri announcements.
Also worth a mention is the updated AirPods Max. For the same RM3,499 asking price, the wireless headset now comes in a slew of new colours, including midnight, starlight, blue, orange, and purple. On top of that, the Lightning port has finally been swapped out for the more universal USB-C connection.
To recap, the Apple AirPods 4 and AirPods Max retail from RM599 and RM3,499 respectively in Malaysia. No word yet on the local availability of the two products, but rest assured, we will keep a close eye on any relevant information.
