Introduced to the world just moments ago, Malaysian pricing as well as local availability of the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max have been revealed. Starting at RM4,999, the new Pro iPhones are actually RM500 more affordable than their respective predecessors at launch – curious, isn’t it?
Of course, the RM4,999 starting price is for the smaller iPhone 16 Pro with 128GB of storage. The larger iPhone 16 Pro Max, on the other hand, retails from RM5,999 with a more generous 256GB base storage. For that kind of money, the Pro models of the iPhone 16 are powered by the A18 Pro chip, which promises up to 15% faster performance compared to last year’s A17 Pro.
The iPhone 16 Pro models are also sporting larger displays now. The Pro variant has a 6.3-inch display, while the Pro Max model comes with a 6.9-inch panel. Thanks to the larger panel, the bezels of the two Pro iPhones are smaller now too for a sleeker, more modern-looking design. Besides that, both phones also get a new Camera Control button below the power button, which can act as a shutter button and control zoom, exposure, as well as depth of field.
In the camera department, the iPhone 16 Pro devices feature a new 48MP primary camera with zero shutter lag and an updated 48MP ultra-wide lens. If you’re a fan of the smaller iPhone 16 Pro, you’ll be happy to know that the 12MP telephoto camera with 5x zoom is now offered on both the Pro and Pro Max models; no more compromise in camera hardware between the two Pro iPhones.
To recap, the iPhone 16 Pro starts at RM4,999 (128GB storage) in Malaysia, while the larger iPhone 16 Pro Max retails from RM5,999 (256GB storage). Both will be available for pre-order locally on 13 September at 8PM, and they will be on store shelves from 20 September onwards, making Malaysia one of the first markets to get the shiny new iPhones.
