iPhone 16 & iPhone 16 Plus Start at RM3,999 in Malaysia – Pre-Orders Open 13 September
September 10, 2024 Andrew Cheng

We just got Malaysian pricing of the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus! Surprise surprise, the new non-Pro iPhones – now powered by the brand new Apple A18 chip that promises up to 30% faster performance – are actually more affordable than its predecessors at launch, and it will be available for pre-order this Friday on 13 September.

So how much more affordable is the new iPhone 16? Well, it now starts at RM3,999, which is a notable RM400 less than the price of entry for the iPhone 15 at launch. As for the iPhone 16 Plus, it retails from RM4,499; this is a similar RM400 price cut from its predecessor.

Aside from its lower price for the Malaysian market, the customisable Action Button that made its debut on the Pro iPhone 15 has now been brought to the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus. On top of that, there is also a new dedicated, touch-sensitive camera button placed right below the power button. Not only can it be used as a shutter button, it can control the camera’s zoom too.

Apple Intelligence is also highlighted quite a bit on the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus, making them the first non-Pro iPhones to get the AI-powered features. These include a more capable Siri with onscreen awareness, the ability to search by typing a description, and using the camera to do a visual search. While these features are cool, it’s worth noting that Apple Intelligence will only be offered sometime next month in October 2024.

In the camera department, the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus feature a familiar (but improved) dual camera system made up of a 48MP main shooter and a 12MP ultra-wide lens. Both phones also get bigger batteries, and with the improved power efficiency of the A18 chip, we can expect better battery life.

To recap, the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus now start at RM3,999 and RM4,499 respectively for 128GB of storage. We are also one of the first markets to get the new iPhones, with pre-orders starting this Friday on 13 September at 8PM and general availability on 20 September next week.
