The new iPhone 16 is here! One of the biggest changes to the new phone is the chip powering the phone. Instead of using an existing chip, the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are now powered by a brand new silicon dubbed A18, promising up to 30% faster performance compared to its predecessor.
Aside from that, the customisable Action Button that made its debut on the Pro iPhone 15 has now been brought to the iPhone 16. On top of that, there is also a new dedicated, touch-sensitive camera button placed right below the power button. Not only can it be used as a shutter button, it can control the camera’s zoom too.
Apple Intelligence is also highlighted quite a bit on the iPhone 16, making it the first non-Pro iPhone to get the AI-powered features. These include a more capable Siri with onscreen awareness, the ability to search by typing a description, and using the camera to do a visual search. While these features are cool, it’s worth noting that Apple Intelligence will only be offered sometime next month in October 2024.
In the camera department, the iPhone 16 features a familiar (but improved) dual camera system made up of a 48MP main shooter and a 12MP ultra-wide lens. It also gets a bigger battery, and with the improved power efficiency of the A18 chip, we can expect improved battery life.
Now, pricing. The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus still start at $799 (about RM3,490) and $899 (approximately RM3,925) for 128GB of storage. We should learn more about the Malaysian pricing of the new iPhones very soon.
