At the local launch of the BYD Seal Dynamic, the new 2024 BYD Atto 3 also made an appearance. Not only have the exterior and interior of the EV been updated, the asking price of the electric SUV has also gone down quite a bit. More specifically, it is RM18,000 more affordable than before, priced at RM149,800.
If you’ve been looking at the Atto 3, then you’d know that this price tag was for the base Standard Range model. Well, that variant has actually been dropped, and only the Extended Range model remains. Basically, the price of the Extended Range variant – now simply called the 2024 Atto 3 – has been reduced to that of the Standard Range’s, improving the value proposition of the EV.
New to the 2024 Atto 3 are black window surrounds and D-pillars; these were previously finished in silver. The “Build Your Dreams” script on the back have been replaced with the more minimalist BYD logo too, and the 18-inch alloy wheels are now shod with Continental EcoContact 6Q tyres. As for the interior, the SUV gets a larger (and rotatable) 15.6-inch infotainment screen.
Output wise, the Atto 3 continues to feature a single front motor that outputs 150kW (203PS) and 310Nm of torque; good for a 0-100kmph time of 7.3 seconds. Its 60.48kWh BYD Blade battery can also return up to 420km of range on the stringent WLTP cycle, and it can be charged up from 10% to 80% in 40 minutes with an 88kW DC charger.
AC charging is still set at 7kW, so it will take 9 hours and 42 minutes to fully charge the Atto 3.
The 2024 BYD Atto 3 can now be viewed at BYD showrooms nationwide. Alternatively, the electric SUV is also showcased at the ongoing Sime Darby Motors Automania event in Stadium Bukit Jalil Car Park B until 8 September this Sunday.
