The blisteringly fast Hyundai Ioniq 5 N is currently being previewed in Malaysia! The sportier Ioniq 5 is actually the South Korean carmaker’s first-ever EV with the performance-focused N branding, and it is showcased to visitors at the ongoing Sime Darby Motors Automania event in Stadium Bukit Jalil; registration of interest for the EV is also open now.
Unfortunately, no official pricing has been given for the Ioniq 5 N, though it’s speculated to retail below the RM400,000 mark. For a car that is this fast, that’s really quite an attractive price tag. How fast is the Ioniq 5 N? Well, it can sprint from 0-100kmph in only 3.4 seconds, thanks to its dual-motor powertrain that delivers 650PS and 770Nm of torque with N Grin Boost engaged. When it’s disabled, the EV outputs 609PS and 740Nm of torque instead.
Unique to the Ioniq 5 N is something dubbed N e-Shift, which mimics gear-shifting sensation. Paired together with N Active Sound – yes, it simulates engine sounds – the EV should sound and feel like driving a high performance ICE vehicle. We personally don’t doubt this, given the sheer amount of power under the hood of the SUV.
In terms of range, the Ioniq 5 N’s sizeable 84kWh battery can deliver up to 448km of WLTP range. It can also be juiced up very quickly, thanks to the EV’s 350kW DC charging rate that only takes 18 minutes to achieve a 10% to 80% charge. As for AC charging, it can pull 11kW of power.
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N is currently previewed in Malaysia at the ongoing Automania 2024 event held by Sime Darby Motors at Stadium Bukit Jalil Car Park B until this weekend on 8 September. You can also register your interest for the high performance EV over here.
