Proton just released its sales figure for August 2024, and with 12,690 units sold, the national carmaker has breached the 100,000 sales mark for six consecutive years. More specifically, Proton sold a total of 101,489 units between January to August 2024.
Leading the carmaker’s sales last month is none other than the Proton Saga with 6,211 units delivered. The updated Proton X50 found 2,440 owners in August too, marking the third time the B-segment SUV exceeded the 2,000 unit threshold in a month. Year-to-date (YTD) sales of the model now stands at 15,229 units.
Next, we have the Proton S70 with 1,205 units sold last month (13,755 units YTD), while the B-segment Proton Persona registered 1,452 sales (13,116 units YTD) in the same period. As for the Proton X90, it continues to lead its segment with 241 units sold (2,507 YTD). Oh, there’s also the Proton Iriz; as many as 403 units were sold in August with YTD sales of 3,719 units. Curiously, no figure was given for the Proton X70, which was facelifted just last month.
“While there has been a lot of competition this year from new brands, market response to Proton’s latest updated models has been positive with strong booking numbers seen nationwide. This is a testament to the effectiveness of the enhancements made and speaks volumes about the importance of having a market leading network of 3S/4S outlets to serve our customers’ needs,” said the CEO of Proton Edar, Roslan Abdullah.
