Intel Core Ultra 200V “Lunar Lake” Laptop Chips Official With Superior Power Efficiency & iGPU
September 4, 2024 Andrew Cheng

Intel finally unwrapped its latest mobile processors, the Intel Core Ultra 200V series codenamed Lunar Lake. Of course, Intel says that the new chips have improved power efficiency, not to mention a “massive leap in graphics performance,” as the company puts it.

There are a total of nine processors in the Core Ultra 200V family, ranging from the base Core Ultra 5 226V to the fastest Core Ultra 9 288V. The integrated GPU of the chips is either an Arc 130V (7-core) or Arc 140V (8-core), both of which are built on the Xe2 architecture. In the CPU side of things, Intel says that the Lunar Lake chips have the fastest CPU cores in the market – certainly a lofty claim.

Interestingly, hyperthreading is ditched for the Core Ultra 200V processors, which is said to improve both performance and power efficiency. On the latter, Intel claims that the Lunar Lake chips deliver more performance-per-watt than the competition, including the Qualcomm X Elite chips and AMD’s Strix Point processors.

It will be interesting to see if the Intel Core Ultra 200V processors can live up to these claims once the first wave of laptops powered by the new chips start shipping on 24 September later this month. Various brands will make use of the new processors, including Acer, Asus, MSI, Dell, Lenovo, and HP.
