ACO Tech Previews New ATLAS Infotainment System – New UI, Expanded Voice Recognition
August 21, 2024 Andrew Cheng

Recently, ACO Tech celebrated its fifth anniversary with a preview of its new ATLAS infotainment system. Not only will its voice recognition capability be expanded, the system will get a new, more customisable user interface as well.

Let’s start with the improved voice recognition of ATLAS. Currently, the infotainment system – found on various Proton models – can only identify English commands, and soon enough, it will support Bahasa Malaysia and Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese) too. Based on a short demo shown by the company, it seems to work quite well.

The user interface of ATLAS will also be revamped in the new version. There are now pre-set layouts that users can choose from, which are said to provide a “minimalist look and feel.” On top of that, users have the freedom to customise the home screen as well with different widgets.

Curiously, ACO Tech also showed off ATLAS’ capability to install various popular apps, including YouTube and TikTok. Based on a prototype version that we tested, it can provide a largely good user experience. However, for obvious safety reasons, these apps will be disabled when the vehicle is in motion.

Unfortunately, ACO Tech did not give an official timeline on when we can expect these new features to be released on Proton models with the ATLAS infotainment system. Nonetheless, the improvements and added features do sound promising.
