The 2025 BYD Seal made its debut in China last night. Though the overall design of the EV looks similar to the previous model, it does have some notable changes. These include a roof-mounted LIDAR sensor for improved ADAS, a tweaked interior, and the inclusion of BYD’s Intelligent Damping Body Control System (DiSus-C).
Essentially a body control system, DiSus-C improves the new Seal’s stability, comfort, and handling for enhanced driving dynamics. Thanks to the LIDAR sensor on the roof – which is actually optional – the EV’s autonomous driving capabilities have been upgraded too, including support for high-speed and urban navigation on autopilot, as reported by CarNewsChina.

Aside from that, there’s the new interior of the 2025 Seal. It gets a much nicer-looking four-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel, hidden air-cond vents, a more minimalist centre console, and of course, a large 15.6-inch floating (and rotatable) infotainment screen.
Other specifications of the updated Seal are similar to its predecessor. Its 0-100kmph time, for one, is still the same at only 3.8 seconds for the range-topping dual-motor model with a combined output of 390kW (530PS) and 670Nm of torque. As for range, it is between 510km to 650km, though this is measured on the more lenient CLTC cycle.
Unfortunately, AC charging of the new Seal is still limited to 7kW, while DC charging is up to 230kW for the higher-end models; it’s 180kW for the base variant.

Speaking of which, the 2025 BYD Seal is offered in five different variants in China with prices ranging from 175,800 Chinese yuan (about RM109,055) to 239,800 yuan (approximately RM148,760). It remains to be seen if the new Seal will also be launched in Malaysia, given that the current Seal for our market only made its debut here in February earlier this year.
