The full details of the 2025 Proton X70 facelift have been revealed! While the national carmaker showed off renders of the new C-segment SUV yesterday, we now have images of the SUV in the metal. The refreshed X70 gets a new front end design, along with the much requested Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support.

Let’s start with the new looks of the facelifted X70. The front end looks much more modern now with slimmer LED headlights and a new grille design. Of course, the Infinite Weave and Ethereal Bow design motifs are all still here; it’s unmistakably a Proton.

However, the rear end of the new X70…doesn’t look all that different from the current model with the same taillights. Nonetheless, the rear bumper does get a slight redesign with horizontal (instead of vertical) reflectors and fake corner air outlets now. Personally, we think the 2025 X70 would look better if it had also taken the taillights of the facelifted 2022 Geely Boyue instead of just the headlights.

Nonetheless, the interior of the refreshed X70 gets some much-needed upgrades. Aside from the new ambient light system – which does look quite good – the “floating” 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen is the highlight here, as it finally supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto! That being said, we were told that these two features won’t be supported at launch; they will be added through an OTA in the near future.

Another new addition to the X70 facelift is a more sophisticated Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). New features include adaptive cruise control with stop and go, lane centering control, rear collision warning, and even traffic sign information. Basically, the new X70 has the same ADAS as its siblings now, including the X90 and S70.

Aside from these changes, the facelifted X70 still soldiers on with the same 1.5L TGDi three-cylinder turbo engine that outputs 177 PS and 255 Nm of torque. Drive is sent to the front wheels – that’s right, no more AWD variant is offered – through a seven-speed wet dual-clutch transmission. While the drivetrain configuration remains the same, Proton did say refinements have been made to improve fuel efficiency (7.3L/100km) and NVH at low speeds.

The 2025 Proton X70 is now available for booking at all Proton 3S and 4S showrooms nationwide; a RM500 deposit is required to place an order. At the moment, it still remains to be seen exactly when the refreshed C-segment SUV will be launched, but given that bookings are open already, we reckon the 2025 X70 will be introduced very soon.
