It seems like Malaysian consumers can finally get their hands on a Google device without going through parallel importers. Google Malaysia itself just shared a teaser of the Pixel 9 Pro, and several telcos have also started teasing the Malaysian arrival of the Pixel 9 phones on 14 August.
In fact, we have good reasons to believe that the other Pixel 9 devices are also coming to Malaysia. After all, the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and even the Pixel 9 XL have been registered with SIRIM last month under reputable distributor VSTECS Astar. More often than not, devices that are certified by SIRIM will be sold in Malaysia in due time, and we reckon that will be case with the upcoming Pixel phones.
The Pixel 9 Pro teaser posted by Google Malaysia showcases the AI capabilities of the phone with Google’s Gemini chatbot. CelcomDigi and Maxis have also shared the very same teaser, further adding that local pre-orders of the phone will start on 14 August.
Without a doubt the prospect of the Google Pixel 9 phones coming officially to Malaysia is exciting, and it will be interesting to see if Malaysia will ever get its own physical Google Store too. Nonetheless, the Pixel 9 phones are set to be unveiled on 13 August at 10AM Pacific Time; that is 14 August at 10AM for us here in Malaysia.
