PlayStation Portal Comes to Malaysia 9 October for RM999
July 30, 2024 Andrew Cheng

Surprise surprise, it seems the PlayStation Portal is coming to Malaysia after all. The handheld gaming device – marketed as a remote player by PlayStation – is essentially a DualSense with a screen in between the two halves of the controller for remote play.

Here in Malaysia, the PlayStation Portal retails at RM999. For that kind of money, the device has all of the features of the DualSense controller, including adaptive triggers and refined haptic feedback. Basically, you’re still getting the utilities of the DualSense while you’re streaming games to the Portal from your PS5.

Of course, streaming PS5 games to the Portal is done over WiFi, and PlayStation recommends speeds of at least 5Mbps. For a “better play experience,” as the company puts it, a 15Mbps connection is recommended. Aside from that, the Portal also has an 8-inch LCD display that can stream games at 1080p in 60fps.

The PlayStation Portal will be available for pre-order in Malaysia next week on 5 August for RM999. The handheld gaming device will hit store shelves in the next two months on 9 October 2024 for Malaysia, though it will be released quite a bit earlier in Singapore on 4 September 2024.
