Continental is expanding its ContiSeal tyre technology to more models in Malaysia. By July 2024, three more Continental tyres will feature the self-healing technology, including the UltraContact UC7, PremiumContact C, and UltraContact UC6 SUV with sizes ranging from 16-inch to 20-inch.

So what exactly is ContiSeal? Basically, tyres with ContiSeal have a “sticky, viscous sealant layer” that immediately fixes any puncture that is up to 5mm in diameter. Even if the object (say, a nail) is dislodged, the puncture will remain sealed.

It’s worth noting that ContiSeal tyres are different from run-flat tyres. According to Continental, ContiSeal tyres perform just like standard tyres “without sacrificing comfort and require no specific vehicle modifications.” Punctured run-flat tyres have certain limitations too, and Continental emphasised that the same limitations do not apply to punctured ContiSeal tyres.

To recap, the ContiSeal technology will be offered on more Continental tyres by July 2024 in Malaysia, including the UltraContact UC7, PremiumContact C, and UltraContact UC6 SUV.
