Two years after the release of the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro – three years for the non-Pro Galaxy Buds 2 – we’re finally getting the new Samsung Galaxy Buds 3 series. Made up of the Galaxy Buds 3 and Galaxy Buds 3 Pro, the wireless earbuds now feature a stem with a dual driver design for the latter.
Here in Malaysia, the Galaxy Buds 3 is priced at RM599, while the higher-end Buds 3 Pro goes for RM999. Both of them cost RM100 more than their respective predecessors, though these two earbuds do offer more features for the money now.
Given its more premium positioning, the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro has a number of intriguing features. These include a dual driver design made up of a 10.5mm dynamic driver and a 6.1mm planar tweeter, active noise cancellation (ANC), up to seven hours of use on a single charge – six hours with ANC enabled – and an IP54 rating.
As for the Galaxy Buds 3, it doesn’t come with replaceable ear tips like the Pro model, opting instead for a more classic earphone design. Of course, it still features ANC and an IP54 rating, though it only comes with a single 11mm dynamic driver and slightly shorter battery life of up to six hours; down to five hours with ANC on.
Of course, Galaxy AI is featured on both wireless earbuds, with the Interpreter feature taking centre stage. Setting the Interpreter app to Listening mode allows the earbuds to do real-time translation, which is quite neat.
The Samsung Galaxy Buds 3 and Galaxy Buds 3 Pro are now available for pre-order in Malaysia for RM599 and RM999 respectively; early birds will even get a free case worth RM169. Both of them will hit store shelves in the next couple of weeks on 24 July.
