After much teasing, CMF – a sub-brand of Nothing – finally revealed its first smartphone, the CMF Phone 1. Featuring a (somewhat) modular design with a budget-friendly price tag, it’s certainly a unique device that will appeal to folks who want a phone that is…a little bit different, without breaking the bank.
Here in Malaysia, the CMF Phone 1 is priced at RM1,099 with 8GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage. It also comes with several accessories that can be attached to the phone, including a stand, lanyard, card case – all of which are priced at RM59 – as well as swappable back panels in Black, Orange, Light Green, or Blue for RM99.
The accessories connect to the Phone 1 via a port in the bottom right corner of the back panel, which is protected with a circular cover. Although the cover looks like a dial, it’s…well, not a dial. It serves no other purpose than protecting the port, though it does give the phone a unique aesthetic.
Hardware wise, the Phone 1 features a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chip, a 6.67-inch 2400 x 1080 AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, a dual camera system (50MP primary + portrait sensor), a 16MP selfie camera, and a 5,000mAh battery with 33W charging. It also runs on Nothing OS 2.6 based on Android 14 out of the box.
The CMF Phone 1 is now available for pre-order in Malaysia for RM1,099, and it will hit store shelves next week on 15 July. Early pre-orders through Shopee and Lazada will come with an extra back panel as well, though only the Black and Light Green models are available now.
