The new iPad Pro with M4 chip and the M2-powered iPad Air are now available in Malaysia! All different variants of the two tablets were registered with SIRIM last week, and just as we’ve estimated, they can now be purchased locally this week.
Pricing wise, the iPad Air is the more affordable tablet. The base 11-inch model retails from RM2,999 for the WiFi-only model, going up to RM3,749 for the cellular version. As for the larger 13-inch iPad Air, it starts at RM3,999 and RM4,749 for the WiFi-only and cellular models respectively.
If you want the more powerful iPad Pro, the 11-inch model will set you back RM5,299 and RM6,299 for the WiFi-only and cellular variants. The larger 13-inch iPad Pro, on the other hand, starts at RM6,799 and RM7,799 for the WiFi-only and cellular models respectively.
Of the two tablets, the new iPad Pro is naturally the more powerful machine. The M4 chip under its hood features 4 performance cores with 6 efficiency cores, which is said to be 50% faster than M2 in the previous iPad Pro. The M4 is more power-efficient as well, being able to match the performance of the M2 at only half the power.
As for the updated iPad Air, it is powered by the Apple M2 chip. Apple says that this makes the tablet 50% faster than the M1 iPad Air; 3x faster when compared to the A14 Bionic model. Aside from that, both the iPad Air and iPad Pro support the Apple Pencil Pro too. A new squeeze gesture has been added to the stylus that can bring up a menu, and it has haptic feedback as well.
Now that the new iPad Pro and iPad Air tablets are available for purchase on Apple’s Malaysian online store, we reckon local Apple Premium Resellers should also have them in stock very soon.
