Sony Xperia 1 VI Ditches 21:9 Screen With 7.1 Optical Zoom Camera – Coming to Malaysia July
May 17, 2024 Andrew Cheng

Sony got a new flagship smartphone, and it’s quite a bit different than its predecessor. The Sony Xperia 1 VI now features a shorter, wider design as it ditches the tall and wide 21:9 display for a more conventional (and dare we say practical) 19.5:9 screen.

On top of that, the Xperia 1 VI no longer features a 4K display either. Instead, it comes with a 6.5-inch 2340 x 1080 OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Naturally, it also features a sophisticated triple camera setup made up of a 48MP primary shooter, a 12MP ultra-wide sensor, and a 12MP telephoto lens with a focal length of 85mm to 170mm; that’s effectively 3.5x to 7.1 optical zoom.

Other specifications of the Xperia 1 VI include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset paired with 12GB RAM, 256GB of expandable storage, a 12MP selfie camera, IP65/IP68 water and dust resistance, as well as a 5,000mAh battery that promises up to two days of battery life.

The Sony Xperia 1 VI is expected to be available in Malaysia sometime in July 2024. Given that its predecessor, the Xperia 1 V went for RM6,399 at launch, there’s a good chance the Xperia 1 VI will be priced in the same region.
