As usual, we now have Malaysian pricing of the new iPad Pro powered by the equally new M4 chip. Much like the refreshed iPad Air, the revamped iPad Pro is also offered in two sizes (11-inch and 13-inch), and with a 5.3mm and 5.1mm side profile respectively, it is said to be the thinnest Apple product ever.
The most affordable iPad Pro is naturally the 11-inch model, which goes for RM5,299 and RM6,299 for the WiFi-only and cellular variants respectively. As for the larger 13-inch iPad Pro, it starts at RM6,799 and RM7,799 for the WiFi-only and cellular models respectively.
If you want the new nano-texture glass option – which promises to reduce glare – it is a RM500 add-on for the 1TB and 2TB options only, curiously enough.
Sporting 4 performance cores with 6 efficiency cores, the M4 chip powering the new iPad Pro is said to be 50% faster than M2 in the previous iPad Pro. It is more power-efficient as well, being able to deliver the same performance as the M2 at only half the power.
As for the tandem OLED screen of the new iPad Pro dubbed Ultra Retina XDR, it is just as its name suggests: it’s two OLED panels in one. Apple says a single OLED panel isn’t enough to achieve the brightness level the Cupertino company wants, hence the decision to use two panels to achieve 1,000 nits brightness for both HDR and SDR content. It also has a peak HDR brightness of 1,600 nits.
Aside from that, there is also a new Magic Keyboard that’s thinner than ever along with the equally new Apple Pencil Pro. A new squeeze gesture has been added to the stylus that can bring up a menu, and it now supports haptic feedback as well.
To recap, the new iPad Pro starts at RM5,299 and RM6,799 in Malaysia for the 11-inch and 13-inch models respectively. No word yet on exactly when the new tablet will be available for purchase on our shores.
