JPJ Recalls 600 Units of Chery Omoda 5 Over Axle Issue
May 3, 2024 Andrew Cheng

Earlier this week, Chery announced a recall for its B-segment SUV, the Chery Omoda 5 over an axle issue. Now, the Road Transport Department (JPJ) is issuing the same recall for 600 units of the SUV, and it is effective immediately.

“Vehicle owners will be contacted by the company to schedule inspection slots or they can walk-in to any service centre nationwide. Any affected components will be replaced, with all costs borne by Chery Corporate Malaysia Sdn Bhd,” said JPJ in a press statement.

JPJ elaborated that it will also be monitoring the Omoda 5’s recall process to ensure that the vehicle is inspected, confirmed safe, with the axle replacement carried out properly. Chery Malaysia itself also previously mentioned that it will get in touch with owners that are potentially affected by the issue.

According to Chery Malaysia, the issue with the Chery Omoda 5’s rear axle is caused by a “recent facility upgrade at a parts vendor.” If you want to check for yourselves if your unit of the SUV is affected by the recall, you can get in touch with Chery Malaysia through its costumer careline at +603-2771 7070.
