Chinese audio giant Moondrop just released its first-ever smartphone, the Moondrop MIAD01. First teased a couple of months ago, it’s marketed as a smartphone HiFi player with a number of audio-centric features, including a Cirrus Logic MasterHIFI DAC and two ports: 4.4mm and 3.5mm.
That’s right, the MIAD01 has two audio jacks, which is certainly a unique proposition that will appeal to audiophiles. Beyond that, the phone itself is a reasonably good mid-range smartphone. It’s powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7050 chipset, which is a comfortably mid-tier chip with 5G connectivity. It also has 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.
Other specifications of the MIAD01 include a 6.7-inch 1080p curved OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a dual camera system (64MP primary with an undisclosed second sensor), a 32MP selfie camera, and a 5,000mAh battery with support for 33W fast charging.
The Moondrop MIAD01 is now available in China for 2,499 Chinese yuan, which comes up to about RM1,650. Naturally, it remains to be seen if the Moondrop phone will ever be sold outside of the country, though we’ll definitely keep a close eye for any news on the international availability of the MIAD01.
