Apple just sent out invites for its next launch event. Set to take place on 7 May, the teaser for the Apple event prominently shows off the Apple Pencil, so it is very likely the Cupertino company will be introducing new iPads.
Rumours are suggesting that Apple is set to unveil a new iPad Pro with an OLED display at the event. Of course, that also means the upcoming tablet will be powered by Apple’s latest M3 chip, and it’s widely believed that the front-facing camera will be repositioned as well to the horizontal side of the tablet.
Aside from that, the iPad Air is also expected to be refreshed. It’s rumoured to feature an upsized 12.9-inch display, which is quite a bit bigger than the current generation’s 10.9-inch screen. The M1 chip is expected to be upgraded as well, though it will supposedly be replaced with an M2 chip instead of M3. The latter is said to be reserved for the higher-end iPad Pro.
We will find out for ourselves come 7 May if these rumoured specifications for the next generation of iPads turn out to be true. For us here in Malaysia, the Apple event will be livestreamed at 10PM on that day, and you can watch it on Apple’s official website itself.
