April 4, 2024 Andrew Cheng

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia recently showed off a slew of new models on our shores. These include the GLS – in the GLS 450 4Matic variant and the decadent Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 4Matic trim – the AMG S63 E Performance, and the CLE 300 4Matic.

Mercedes-Benz GLS 450 4Matic & Maybach GLS 600 4Matic

For the GLS, it is offered in two models. Let’s start with the GLS 450 4Matic, which is priced at RM999,888. For that kind of money, it offers a 3.0L six-cylinder turbo engine that outputs 380hp and 500Nm of torque paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. It also has a 48V mild hybrid system that gives an additional 20hp and 200Nm torque.

As for the Maybach GLS 600 4Matic, it goes for a cool RM1,918,888. Under its hood is a 4.0L biturbo V8 engine that does 557hp and 770Nm of torque along with a 48V mild hybrid system (22hp/250Nm). This allows the luxury SUV to sprint from 0-100kmph in 4.9 seconds.

Mercedes-AMG S63 E Performance

Next, we have the S63 E Performance. As its name suggests, this is a fast, powerful car with a total output of 791hp and 1430Nm of torque out of the AMG 4.0L V8 biturbo engine with AMG Performance hybrid powertrain. This is paired to a nine-speed AMG Speedshift MCT 9G automatic transmission that sends drive to all four wheels.

Thanks to this setup, the S63 E Performance can do the century sprint in only 3.3 seconds with a top speed of 290kmph. Of course, you have to pay quite a bit of money for this level of performance: the luxury sedan starts at a cool RM2,238,888, which includes a six-year/100,000km warranty.

Mercedes-Benz CLE 300 4Matic

Lastly, there’s the CLE 300 4Matic, which is the most “affordable” model of the lot; it’s estimated to retail from RM526,000. The two-door coupe comes with a 2.0L turbocharged engine that outputs 258hp and 400Nm of torque, and it also has a 48V EQ Boost mild hybrid system that provides an additional 23hp and 205Nm torque.

Drive is sent to all four wheels of the CLE 300 4Matic via a nine-speed 9G-Tronic automatic transmission, allowing the car to sprint from 0-100kmph in 6.2 seconds with a top speed of 250kmph.

All of the models featured here are now available for viewing (and test drive) at Mercedes-Benz Malaysia’s ongoing Luxury Showcase event at NZ Wheels Bangsar until 7 April this Sunday. If you’re keen to attend the event, you can reserve a session over here.
