The Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Ultra have just been launched in Malaysia. First unveiled for the global market just last week at MWC 2024, Xiaomi Malaysia is certainly bringing in the two flagship smartphones – complete with Leica cameras – to our shores quite quickly.
For the Malaysian market, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra is offered in the sole 16GB + 512GB model for RM5,199; this is the exact same price tag as its predecessor. As for the more affordable Xiaomi 14, it is priced at RM3,499 and RM3,799 for the 12GB + 256GB and 12GB + 512GB variants respectively.
As the range-topping device in the series, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra features the best hardware, including a sophisticated Leica-branded quad camera system. The 50MP main camera with variable aperture has been updated with a new 1-inch type sensor, while the other three 50MP sensors remain the same, including a 3.2x telephoto shooter, a 5x telephoto lens, and an ultra-wide angle camera with macro support.
Rounding out the specifications of the Xiaomi 14 Ultra are a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, a 6.73-inch 3200 x 1440 OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate – now with a brighter peak brightness of 3,000 nits – and a generous 5,300mAh battery that can do 90W wired charging; 80W for wireless charging.
As for the more affordable Xiaomi 14, it has a more modest set of hardware, though it is unmistakably still a high-end phone. It comes with a Leica triple camera system (50MP main + 50MP telephoto + 50MP ultra-wide), a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, a 6.36-inch 2670 x 1200 OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, as well as a 4,610mAh battery with 90W fast charging (50W wireless).
The Xiaomi 14 will be available for purchase in Malaysia from tomorrow onwards (8 March) from RM3,499, while pre-orders for the Xiaomi 14 Ultra will start on the same date until 21 March with general availability on 22 March. Early birds can also get up to RM2,346.94 – yes, it’s a very specific figure – worth of freebies, depending on which device that is purchased.
