After multiple teasers, the Nothing Phone 2a is finally here. As Nothing’s first-ever mid-range smartphone – and most affordable phone yet – the Phone 2a is quite an intriguing smartphone with Nothing’s signature design language, including the unique Glyph Interface lighting.
First, pricing. Only one variant of the Phone 2a is offered in Malaysia, which features 12GB RAM and 256GB of storage for RM1,699. Two colour options are available: Milk and Black. As previously revealed, the phone will be available for purchase tomorrow on 6 March, 11AM at Crossover Sunway Pyramid in Petaling Jaya.
As many as 100 units of the Phone 2a will be up for grabs, and “an exclusive complimentary bundle” will be given with the phone, which includes a custom case and other extras. If you’re willing you wait, the Phone will be more widely available this Saturday on 9 March from both online retailers and physical stores.
The Glyph Interface lighting that surrounds the camera module of the Phone 2a is certainly its most unique feature. Just like how it is on the higher-end Nothing Phone 2, the lighting system will light up when a notification or phone call comes in, which is a nice – though ultimately novel – feature.
Other specifications of the Phone 2a include a MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Pro chipset, a 6.7-inch 2412 x 1084 AMOLED display with 30-120Hz adaptive refresh rate, a dual camera system (50MP main + 50MP ultra-wide), a 32MP selfie camera, and a 5,000mAh battery with 45W charging.
To recap, the Nothing Phone 2a will be available for purchase in Malaysia tomorrow on 6 March for RM1,699 with wider availability on 9 March. If you’d like to learn more about the phone, check out our comprehensive review.
