February 26, 2024 Andrew Cheng

At MWC 2024, Samsung revealed more details on its upcoming smart ring, the aptly named Samsung Galaxy Ring. We now have a closer look at what the ring looks like, and some of its feature set, though exact specifications of the wearable have not been revealed yet.

According to a report by The Verge, the Galaxy Ring is indeed made for health and wellness tracking. It has various sensors for sleep tracking that is based on heart rate, movement, and respiratory indicators. Besides that, the smart ring is also shown in three different colours (platinum silver, ceramic black, gold), though Samsung notes that the smart ring is still subject to change.

Samsung also elaborated on how the Galaxy Ring will work with its Samsung Health app. A new feature dubbed Vitality Score will be added to the app, which offers “personalised health insights based on multiple factors including sleep, activity, heart rate, and heart rate variability,” as the company puts it. The Galaxy Ring will be used to collect these data, and it’s worth noting that the same applies to the Galaxy Watch 6 as well.

While there’s no specific launch date yet for the Samsung Galaxy Ring, the Korean company did reveal that the new wearable is expected to arrive sometime this year. With that in mind, there’s a good chance the Galaxy Ring will debut alongside Samsung’s new foldable phones in the second half 2024.
