Acer Malaysia just brought in three new Predator Helios gaming laptops to our local market. These include the Predator Helios 16 and Helios 18, as well as the more affordable Predator Helios Neo 16. Retailing from RM6,399 to RM18,999, the new gaming laptop lineup is powered by Intel’s latest 14th gen HX series mobile processors and Nvidia’s RTX 40 series GPUs.

Predator Helios 16 & Helios 18

Let’s start with the higher-end Predator Helios line. Both the Helios 16 and Helios 18 in Malaysia feature a fast Intel Core i9-14900HX processor and three GPU options: RTX 4070, RTX 4080, and RTX 4090 (only for Helios 18). They also feature a 16-inch or 18-inch 2560 x 1600 display – with optional mini-LED panel – with up to 250Hz refresh rate; fast display for an equally fast gaming laptop.

Other specifications of the Helios 16 and Helios 18 include dual 5th gen Aeroblade fans with liquid metal thermal paste and vector heat pipes for improved thermal performance, Magkey 3.0 swappable WASD keycaps to change the characteristic of the four keys, a rather sleek Infinity Mirror lightbar on the back of the laptop, along with an RGB Predator logo on the lid.

Pricing wise, the Predator Helios 16 retails from RM10,999 for the base RTX 4070 model, while the more powerful RTX 4080 version is priced at RM12,999 and RM14,999 for the IPS and mini-LED options respectively. All models feature 32GB RAM and 2TB of SSD storage.

As for the larger Helios 18, it goes for RM13,999 and RM18,999 for the RTX 4080 (IPS display) and RTX 4090 (mini-LED display) models respectively. It’s worth noting that the RTX 4080 version has 32GB RAM and 2TB SSD, while the range-topping RTX 4090 variant has larger 4TB SSD storage as well as 32GB RAM.

It’s worth noting that until 7 March 2024, these gaming laptops are offered with a RM1,000 discount.

Predator Helios Neo 16

And then we have the more affordable Predator Helios Neo 16, which is offered in three different configurations for the Malaysian market. There’s the base Core i5-14500HX model with an RTX 4060 and 8GB RAM for RM6,399, and swapping out the CPU for a faster Core i7-14700HX increases the price to RM7,299.

The range-topping RTX 4070 model, on the other hand, is packed with a Core i7-14700HX processor and 16GB RAM. Just like how it is for the higher-end Predator Helios laptops, the Helios Neo 16 is also offered with rather generous discounts until 7 March 2024.

Rounding out the hardware of the Helios Neo 16 are a 16-inch 2560 x 1600 IPS display with 165Hz refresh rate – 240Hz for the highest-end RTX 4070 model – 1TB of SSD storage, a four-zone RGB keyboard, an illuminated Predator logo on the lid – this gaming laptop doesn’t get the Infinity Mirror lightbar, unfortunately – and a similar cooling system as the higher-end Helios gaming laptops.

According to Acer Malaysia, the Predator Helios Neo 16, Helios 16, and Helios 18 are now available for purchase in Malaysia. It’s worth mentioning again that these gaming laptops will be discounted by up to RM1,000 until 7 March 2024.
