GOLD 1 Number Plate Sold for RM1.5 Million to Yang di-Pertuan Agong
February 20, 2024 Andrew Cheng

The GOLD series number plate was opened for bidding earlier this month, and the GOLD 1 plate was sold for a whopping RM1.5 million. The buyer? None other than the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Ibrahim.

This makes the GOLD 1 number plate the most expensive plate sold in Malaysia, and the RM1.5 million sale will be channeled to the Federal Government. Transport Minister Anthony Loke also presented Sultan Ibrahim with a symbolic GOLD 1 plate today at Istana Negara.

Bidding for the GOLD series number plate was opened from 1 to 5 February 2024 earlier this month. The special plate series was released in conjunction with the 50th anniversary (or golden jubilee) of the Federal Territories.

Needless to say, RM1.5 million for the GOLD 1 number plate is certainly a large amount of money. It will be interesting to see exactly how much revenue the GOLD special plate series has generated, though the Ministry of Transport has not revealed the full figure yet.
