Proton X70 MC2 Facelift Launch Delayed in Malaysia Beyond Q1 2024
February 16, 2024 Andrew Cheng

The Proton X70 MC2 facelift has been spotted numerous times in the past, though it’s been a while since we’ve seen a spy shot of the refreshed C-segment SUV. Well, according to a new update, the launch of the X70 facelift has been delayed.

Quoting a source familiar with the matter, Funtasticko reports that the X70 MC2 is delayed to make way for a more elaborate facelift. According to the source, this decision comes from Proton’s higher management. As we’ve seen from previous spy shots of the upcoming SUV, the changes do indeed look quite minimal.

Many believe that the upcoming X70 MC2 facelift will be based on the 2022 Boyue, which features a redesigned front end for a sleeker, more modern-looking aesthetic. The rear end of the SUV, however, looks to be relatively untouched in its current form.

Beyond the updated exterior, the facelifted X70 is said to feature a new interior too, which we reckon will (again) take cues from the Boyue facelift. If this is indeed the case, it’ll feature a bigger, more modern-looking infotainment screen. There should be some changes to the overall dashboard design too, as you can see below.

Previously, the Proton X70 MC2 facelift is rumoured to be introduced sometime in Q1 2024. But with the purported delay in the development process, there’s a good chance it will miss this launch window. Nonetheless, we’ll just have to wait for an official announcement from Proton to learn more – or until more spy shots of the X70 MC2 come up.
