For this year’s Safer Internet Day – which is taking place today on 6 February – Apple is highlighting several of its features that can keep families safe in the online world. The biggest one is FaceTime, which has many components to help parents manage their kids’ online experience, among other things.

One such component of Screen Time is Downtime, which allows users to set a specific time (such as bedtime) when apps and notifications are blocked. There’s also Communication Safety that detects sensitive images or videos that children might receive or attempt to send in Messages, Airdrop, FaceTime messages, Contact Posters in the Phone app, and Photos.

If Communication Safety detects such content on a child’s device, the feature will warn them and give them options to stay safe while providing helpful resources. Besides that, there are also other features highlighted by Apple, including iCloud Private Relay – though this is limited to iCloud+ subscribers – and Family Sharing. Give these features a try if you haven’t already. After all, it’s Safer Internet Day.
