Honda Malaysia Sold Over 80k Cars in 2023 – Retains Top Spot in Non-National Segment

Honda Malaysia continues to retain its top position in the non-national passenger vehicle segment in 2023. With over 80,000 units sold, as many as four models from the Japanese carmaker lead their respective segments as well.

The four models include the popular HR-V, Civic, CR-V, and WR-V. It’s worth noting that the latter two were just introduced in 2023, and in the case of the WR-V, over 7,800 units of the small SUV were sold within the first six months of launch.

But Honda Malaysia’s best-selling car in 2023 is still the Honda City, which contributed over 30% to the company’s total sales last year. This is followed by the HR-V at 25%, while the City Hatchback makes up 13% of sales.

“2023 proved to be a challenging year where we faced a competitive market. However, Honda Malaysia managed to overcome and achieved our sales target in 2023 with strong support from our dealers and the Malaysian government,” said the MD and CEO of Honda Malaysia, Hironobu Yoshimura.

“Additionally, we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all Honda customers who have played a crucial role in this achievement through their unwavering support towards the Honda brand,” he added.

Honda Malaysia says that it is optimistic about the automotive sector for 2024, and the company expects it to be another exciting year for the industry. Chances are, we can look forward to more new models – including facelifts – from the Japanese carmaker throughout the year.
