Acer is quick to announce its latest gaming laptops powered by Intel’s brand new 14th gen HX series mobile processors. Both the Acer Predator Helios and Acer Predator Helios Neo line gets the new chip, and not surprisingly, they also feature Nvidia’s RTX 40 series GPUs.
Acer Predator Helios 16 & Helios 18
Let’s start with the higher-end Predator Helios line. Both the Helios 16 and Helios 18 can be configured with a fast Core i9-14900HX processor and a powerful RTX 4090 GPU. They also feature a 16-inch or 18-inch WQXGA display – with optional mini-LED panel – of up to 250Hz refresh rate; fast display for an equally fast gaming laptop.
Other specifications of the Helios 16 and Helios 18 include dual 5th gen Aeroblade fans with liquid metal thermal paste and vector heat pipes for improved thermal performance, Magkey 3.0 swappable WASD keycaps to change the characteristic of the four keys, a rather sleek Infinity Mirror lightbar on the back of the laptop, along with an RGB Predator logo on the lid.
Pricing wise, the Acer Predator Helios 16 and Helios 18 start at $1,899 (about RM8,830) and $1,999 (around RM9,295) respectively in the US. No word yet on the Malaysian availability of the gaming laptops.
Acer Predator Helios Neo 16 & Helios Neo 18
As for the more affordable Predator Helios Neo series, it is made up of the Helios Neo 16 and the new Helios Neo 18. Both gaming laptops can be equipped with up to Core i9-14900HX processor too, though the GPU options max out at an RTX 4070 GPU.
Rounding out the hardware of the Helios Neo 16 and Helios Neo 18 are a 16-inch or 18-inch 2560 x 1600 IPS display with 240Hz refresh rate, a four-zone RGB keyboard, an illuminated Predator logo on the lid – the two laptops don’t get the Infinity Mirror lightbar, unfortunately – and a similar cooling system as the higher-end Helios gaming laptops.
In terms of pricing, the Acer Predator Helios Neo 16 starts at $1,499 (about RM6,970), while the Acer Predator Helios Neo 18 retails from $1,549 (approximately RM7,200) in the US. We haven’t heard yet from Acer Malaysia on the local availability of these two gaming laptops.
