Oppo Reno 11 Pro Unboxing: Promising Upper Mid-Range Phone
December 28, 2023 Andrew Cheng

The Oppo Reno 11 series is coming to Malaysia very soon. Ahead of its local introduction, Oppo Malaysia sent over an early review unit of the Reno 11 Pro to Nextrift, which will be sold alongside the standard Reno 11 once both devices have been launched here.

Compared to its predecessor, the Reno 11 does have some updated design elements, including some new eye-catching colour options and a redesigned camera module. Of course, if you want something more minimalist-looking, there’s this Rock Grey variant of the Reno 11 Pro.

Without further ado, let’s get to the unboxing.

Packaging of the Reno 11 Pro is standard affair. Inside the box is the phone itself wrapped in a paper packaging, and underneath is a 100W charging brick and a USB-A to USB-C cable. It’s quite curious that Oppo is bundling a 100W charger with the Reno 11 Pro, given that it only supports 80W charging.

Nonetheless, also packaged together with the Reno 11 Pro is a rather nice silicone cover. I love the fact that it’s thin enough to not add too much bulk to the phone, and it’s quite grippy too. Beyond that, there are also the usual paper manuals and a SIM eject tool.

As mentioned, this is the Reno 11 Pro in Rock Grey. While it doesn’t have the more unique finishes of the green or white colour options, it’s a good colourway for folks who want a more understated design. The Rock Grey model’s back panel also has a smooth, matte finish that feels great to the touch.

Camera module of the Reno 11 Pro has also been changed slightly over its predecessor. While it is still a triple camera system, the lens arrangement is now more akin to the camera array of the higher-end Reno 10 Pro+. Unfortunately, the exact specifications of the Reno 11 Pro’s camera configuration cannot be revealed yet; Oppo Malaysia has set an embargo on the phone’s hardware for the local market.

Nonetheless, the Reno 11 Pro does feel and look like an upper mid-range phone, and I’m looking forward to putting it through its paces in the full review.

So far, Oppo Malaysia has confirmed that the Reno 11 series for the Malaysian market will be made up of the Reno 11 and Reno 11 Pro. Both of them are said to feature a 32MP telephoto portrait camera, along with the company’s new ColorOS 14 software. The Reno 11 Pro also gets 80W fast charging, while the standard Reno 11 can do 67W charging.

No word yet on exactly when the Oppo Reno 11 series will be launched in Malaysia, though Oppo Malaysia is doing a delivery event for the new phone on 13 January 2024. With that in mind, we can expect the Reno 11 and Reno 11 Pro to be available locally by then. You can also register your interest to get a RM100 rebate on the Reno 11 series.
