Hyundai is holding a rather interesting tour around Southeast Asia with the Hyundai Ioniq 5 EV. The convoy, which is made up of three cars from Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Center Singapore (HMGICS) and another two from Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (HMMI), will travel to five different ASEAN countries.
The Ioniq 5 convoy started its journey in Singapore – more specifically, at HMGICS – before arriving in Malaysia today for another flag-off ceremony. The convoy will spend a few days exploring different destinations in Malaysia, including the Penang Heritage Walk, before making its way to Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam.
“Our aspiration through this journey is to demonstrate the reliability, eco-friendliness, and long-distance capabilities of the Ioniq 5, aiming to reduce consumers’ doubts and anxiety about EVs, especially in the region,” said the President of Hyundai Motor ASEAN Headquarters, Youngtack Lee.
For the Malaysian market, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 starts at RM207,808 for the base Lite model, going up to RM238,408 and RM270,408 for the Plus and Max variants respectively. If you’d like to learn more about the Ioniq 5, check out our review of the range-topping Max model right here.
