Naughty Dog is giving The Last of Us Part II the remaster treatment for PS5. Set to arrive next year on 19 January 2024, The Last of Us Part II Remastered brings enhanced graphics, DualSense integration, and even new content.
One new addition is a mode called No Return, which is a rougelike survival mode that puts players in randomised encounters. A slew of playable characters will be available in this mode, and some of them will even be playable for the first time in The Last of Us franchise, as you can see in the trailer below.
Of course, the game wouldn’t be a proper remaster without graphical enhancements. Some improvements players can expect in The Last of Us Part II Remastered include native 4K output in Fidelity Mode, 1440p upscaled to 4K in Performance Mode, the option for unlocked framerate on displays that support VRR, increased texture resolution, and more.
It’s also worth noting that existing owners of The Last of Us Part II on the PS4 can even upgrade to a digital copy of the Remastered version. For the Malaysian market, the upgrade costs RM40 – a reasonable price, in our opinion, given that the new version offers improved graphics and new content.
The Last of Us Part II Remastered is set to arrive next year exclusively on the PS5 on 19 January 2024. Pricing of the game has not been revealed yet, though digital pre-orders are set to open in the next couple of weeks on 5 December.
