Mercedes-Benz Malaysia’s production plant in Pekan, Pahang just reached a big milestone. The facility recently rolled out the 100,000th Mercedes-Benz passenger car, and to date, the carmaker has invested over RM500 million in the plant.

“Mercedes-Benz is the first and only luxury automotive manufacturer to master the local production process in Malaysia. Since its establishment in 2004, the Mercedes-Benz Production Plant in Pekan has played a pivotal role in shaping the Malaysian automotive landscape,” said the President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Cars Malaysia and Head of Region, Mercedes-Benz Cars SEA II, Amanda Zhang.

“This year’s milestone achievement highlights the plant’s remarkable evolvement and journey, reinforcing our commitment to strengthening our foothold in the luxury car segment,” she added.

The Mercedes-Benz Pekan plant also hit another landmark achievement earlier this year with the local assembly of the EQS 500 4Matic EV. Assembling electric vehicles in our market “accelerates the brand’s electric mobility drive and shapes the future of its automotive manufacturing, as well as the direction of its plant in Malaysia,” as Mercedes-Benz Malaysia puts it.

“As Mercedes-Benz Malaysia strives to advocate an all-electric future in line with its global vision, Mercedes-Benz Cars will be ready to go all-electric by the end of this decade wherever market conditions allow,” said the carmaker in the press release.
