smart Adds 3 DC Chargers at Its Outlets in Glenmarie, Penang, Ipoh – More Locations Soon
November 3, 2023 Andrew Cheng

In preparation for the launch of the smart #1 EV in Malaysia, the carmaker just added three more fast DC chargers at selected smart outlets nationwide. These include Glenmarie, Shah Alam; Penang; as well as Ipoh, Perak. These chargers complement the 100kW DC fast charger at Proton Centre of Excellence, which was launched last week.

It’s worth noting that these DC chargers, depending on which smart outlet, have different charging speeds. The one in Glenmarie and Ipoh, for example, are equipped with 60kW DC charging stations. The charger in smart Penang, on the other hand, has a much, much faster 120kW charging capacity.

Beyond these three locations, smart outlets in Setia Alam (Shah Alam), Johor Bahru, Malacca, and Alor Setar (Kedah) will also get their own DC chargers by the end of the year.

smart also added that its Hello smart app is capable of showing real-time charging information and the availability of charging stations. Of course, these include public chargers as well, of which 70% have already been integrated into the app.

Payment for charging also can be done through the Hello smart app in the near future. Hopefully, that feature will be ready once the smart #1 is launched in Malaysia, which should be happening very, very soon. To recap, the EV will be launched here in the next two months with prices ranging from RM200,000 to RM250,000. Three variants will be offered: there’s the base Pro, the mid-tier Premium, and of course, the powerful Brabus version.

Bookings for the smart #1 can be made through the aforementioned Hello smart app, which is available for download on the Apple App StoreGoogle Play Store, and Huawei AppGallery; a RM1,000 refundable fee is required to book the electric crossover.
