Aside from the MacBook Pro laptops, Apple also updated the 24-inch iMac with the new M3 chip. This is an overdue refresh, given that its predecessor, the M1 iMac – which was revealed back in 2021 – wasn’t upgraded with the Cupertino company’s M2 chip.

With that in mind, the new iMac does bring some notable performance gains. Compared to the M1 iMac, the M3 iMac is said to be up to twice as fast. When you’re gaming – which is an increasingly feasible option on Macs – you can expect to see a 50% improvement in frame rate too.

Beyond the performance bump from the M3 chip, the updated iMac also supports WiFi 6E now, and it remains very colourful and very similar to the previous model. It continues to feature a 24-inch 4.5k Retina Display with True Tone support, along with slim bezels surrounding the display. The rather large “chin” under the screen is still very much here too, which slightly detracts from an otherwise very sleek-looking AIO.

For the Malaysian market, the 24-inch iMac now starts at RM6,299 for 256GB of storage, 8GB unified memory, and an 8-core GPU. If you want faster GPU performance, you can opt for the 10-core GPU configuration, which will set you back RM7,299. The new iMac is not available for purchase in Malaysia just yet, though we’ll be sure to keep an eye on the local availability of the AIO.
