The Proton S70 rumour mill is turning yet again, and this one is quite intriguing as it concerns the pricing of the upcoming Proton sedan. If sources are to be believed, the whole S70 lineup will supposedly cost less than RM100,000, and some models will even come with level 2 autonomous driving.

These details were reported by Automachi, which is quoting Proton sales advisors who have attended training for the S70. According to the report, four models of the sedan will be offered: Executive, Premium, Flagship, and Flagship X. This matches previous rumours of the model lineup.

Automachi further elaborated that level 2 autonomous driving will only be offered on the Flagship and Flagship X trims of the S70, and the latter is the only model to get a panoramic sunroof.

It’s been previously mentioned that all four variants of the S70 will be powered by a 1.5L MPI turbo engine that outputs 150PS and 226Nm of torque, and Automachi is corroborating this information. If this turns out to be true, the S70 will not in fact be offered with the more powerful 1.5L TGDi turbo mill (177PS/255Nm). Naturally, the turbo engine will be paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Given that these details on the Proton S70 were not confirmed by the local carmaker itself, do take them with a grain of salt. The S70 is expected to be launched sometime in November 2023 next month, and we’ll find out then the pricing and final name of the highly anticipated sedan, which has been previously referred to as the S50.
