The first flagship phones sporting the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset come from none other than Xiaomi. Both the Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro have just been launched in China, and aside from the shiny new processor, they have some intriguing features too, including a (not surprisingly) Leica triple camera.

For the most part, the Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro sport relatively similar hardware. These include the aforementioned Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, a Leica-branded triple camera system (50MP primary + 50MP telephoto with 3.2x optical zoom + 50MP ultra-wide), a 32MP selfie camera, and a display with a peak brightness of 3,000 nits.

Speaking of which, the Xiaomi 14 has a 6.36-inch 2670 x 1200 LTPO OLED display with 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. The Xiaomi 14 Pro, on the other hand, has a larger, sharper 6.73-inch 3200 x 1400 LTPO AMOLED panel with 120Hz adaptive refresh rate too. The 14 Pro also features a 4,880mAh battery with support for 120W fast charging, while the standard 14 has a 4,610mAh cell with 90W fast charging.

Although both the Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro share similar camera hardware, the Pro model’s 50MP primary sensor does have variable aperture between f/1.42 to f/4.0. The standard Xiaomi 14, on the other hand, has a fixed f/1.6 aperture for its main camera.

The Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro are only available in China at the moment, though we reckon it will be launched for the global market (including Malaysia) in the near future. The standard 14 retails from 3,999 Chinese yuan (about RM2,610), while the 14 Pro starts at 4,999 yuan (approximately RM3,260).
