Spy Shot: Proton S70 Interior Seen – Rear Torsion Beam Confirmed
October 25, 2023 Andrew Cheng

We are getting more and more spy shots of the Proton S70 as we lead up to the (likely) launch of the sedan in November next month. These images were shared to Paultan.org by an anonymous reader, and it gives us a pretty clear look at the interior of the S70, along with a shot of its undercarriage.

Not surprisingly, the S70 gets a rear torsion beam setup. It makes sense, given that the S70 uses the same platform as the Proton X50, which also has a similar configuration. As for the interior of the sedan, it looks strikingly similar to the Geely Emgrand’s design, albeit with a more conservative black and silver colour scheme instead of the Emgrand’s more eye-catching blue and grey combination.

Based on previous rumours, four different variants of the S70 will supposedly be offered. All of them are said to be powered by either a 1.5L MPI turbo engine (150PS/226Nm) or a more powerful 1.5L TGDi turbo mill (177PS/255Nm); two turbocharged engines that are found in the X50 lineup. The sedan is rumoured to be sporting a large 12.3-inch full LCD meter as well.

The Proton S70 is largely believed – and pretty much confirmed by Proton’s own CEO – to be launched sometime in November 2023 next month. We’ll find out then the pricing and final name of the highly anticipated sedan, which has been previously referred to as the S50.
